OVER DUE BOOKS
OUR RESPONSIBILITY
When a book is overdue, we will:
1. send home a reminder note that the child fills in during class time.
2. send frequent lists to the teacher of all unreturned books so that desks and classroom shelves can be checked.
3. check our own shelves weekly for books that are two weeks or more overdue.
4. send home a replacement fee note for books that still do not turn up after all of our other steps have been taken.
The frequency of all steps will increase as we approach Christmas break or the end of the year.
PARENT/STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY
It is the child’s responsibility to make sure the parent sees the reminder note or the replacement fee note.
If your child brings home a replacement fee note, he/she will not be allowed to check out a book until just one of the following occurs:
1. he/she returns the book.
2. he/she checks the shelves, finds the book, and hands it to the librarian. (We will have already checked, but they are welcome to as well.)
3. the replacement fee is paid.
4. you buy the same book new or "excellent-condition” used and offer it as a replacement. The librarian needs to approve the quality of the book because it will have to be covered. Certain defects in a cover can hinder that process.
The best way to reach us with questions about overdue books is through our e-mail account. Thank you!
