I love Fridays! After a nearly full day of study halls where all I do is computer work and monitoring, here come the first and second grade classes to fill my morning with story time and book searches. It's lots of fun!
2L -- Today's first chapter is "Zombiekins" by Kevin Bolger. Full of drawings similar to the popular Diary of A Wimpy Kid, this book is a funny story of a town in complete denial about the supernatural elements that are going on.
4R -- We read "The Stone Child" by Dan Poblocki. For more info, check out the book trailer for "The Stone Child"... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Snwc05CFN0
1L & 1 P -- We read a biography on Abraham Lincoln that had a lot of great pictures. After we read, I turned back to a picture of the Lincoln Memorial. The kids could tell me what the statue was, where it was at, and how gigantic it was. They could also remember several movies they had seen it in. It's really amazing how much they pick up from snippets in movies.
